HEAL has multiple concerns about this program and they include the fact that children are denied telephone access and denied telephone calls with their families for at least the first 30 days in the program. They are not allowed to write anyone other than family until after 3 months into the program. And, they are not allowed even on-site visits by their parents until 6 months into the program. The control of communications in this manner is a warning sign of an abusive behavior modification program. Given that Shamrock claims on their website that all of these "privileges" (communicating with one's own parents included) are dependent on the "behavior" of the child as judged by the program, this is a serious concern. This information was found on the website shamrockacres.com on October 15th, 2010. | ||
