Stop Animal Cruelty in the Military--As many of you might have heard, a recent video on the internet has surfaced showing a U.S. Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff for fun.  This merely might be an act of "manliness" or just plain stupidity on his part.  My question is, one, where did he find the dog because they seem to be in the deserts of Iraq. Two, what idiot decided to film him AND say his name on camera because I am sure PETA and other organizations are all over this.  I think it just another reason to move forward of my dream of helping animals everywhere.  This pitiful excuse of a human deserve to die, along with all of his friends who didn't stop him.  Even though he is probably still in Iraq, I hope he realizes that he should probably just eat a bullet before coming back to this country because there is no room for filth like him.  If you haven't seen the video, please click HERE to view and post your opinion.  You can also go to http://www.peta.org/ to sign a petition that will be sent to the solider/family/someone important over there. Please put an end to the teenage behavioral problem epidemic that has plagued so many parents' minds.  Many teenagers are being horribly mistreated and locked away in hospitals that are supposed to help them.  Behavior modification teen treatment camps are a controversial excuse for therapy at best.  The teen's parents are assured by staff members and doctors that the teenager is mentally unstable, but will be cured after prolonged, in-patient treatment.  Usually, doctors and staff members barely need an assessment of the child before he/she is admitted to the clinic.  The teenagers are often tricked or lied to in order to be calm enough to enter the facility, ripped away from their parents and locked in a room for 3 days.  This process is called AWOL and is a common method to "calm" the crazy child and get them to adjust.  Any normal human being would act crazy after this has happened, besides the fact that they are thrown into an insane asylum hospital where all the staff and doctors think you are "just another crazy teen".  Sadly, these people talk to your parents and update them on your condition, ultimately deciding when you leave and where you will go when you do.  Although I am not a survivor of PCS, I have been institutionalized at an Oregon facility (NWBC).  It was almost a year ago, but I am still haunted by my traumatic experience.  I consider myself somewhat lucky because I did not suffer the deprivation of food, deprivation of contact with their peers, physical or sexual abuse that so many other incarcerated teenagers have. This petition is only to shut down one institution, but with the Initiative 999 voting coming up, hopefully enough people will vote yes and finally put an end to the teen suffering!

Alaskan Politicians would Rather Drill for Oil than Save Polar Bears--After reading a Sunday Oregonian article written by Dan Joling about Polar Bear extinction, I had to alert HEAL Members.  Apparently, politicians in Alaska do not want the Polar Bear put on the Endangered Species List in fear of an animal rights project forming, preventing them from drilling for oil in the Northern Reserves.  Even though many surveys have been taken and models have been created showing that if this happens, the ice caps will melt and all Polar Bears will be dead by the year 2050, they refuse to believe any of the facts. Tell VARE to Stop Testing or Suck it up--VARE (Victims of Animal Rights Extremism) is an authentic website created by people who have suffered "harassment, intimidation, property damage and violence at the hands of animal rights extremists".  They claim that they needed to set up a place on the web for victims to come together and be strong against the animal rights movement and stop the protests addressed to them because of their connection with the use of animals in medical research.  Well VARE, although HEAL does not support or produce illegal animal rights missions or protests, we know that if you simply changed your career, the violence and "suffering" would stop.  Please join us in telling them to stop testing, or suck it up: http://vare.org.uk/drupal/?q=contact

Please ask Teresa Platt to Stop Killing Animals for their Fur--In her 2007 article, Saving Society from Animal "Snuff" Films, Teresa talks about how film-makers produce informative films about animal rights actually lie and make situations worse for the already suffering creatures.  She goes on to list various films that have been found to be false, manipulated and contain actors who are paid to make situations look horrible so animal right's groups can obtain more money.  Below her article is also a link to a virtual tour of fur factories which is nothing short of a commercial for delicious butter, filled with smiling young children and happy animals.  Animal fur is not vital to human survival in any way and these animals are suffering and dying for no reason.  Please show her the error of her ways kindly and respectably: Teresa Platt, Executive Director, Fur Commission USA, PMB 506, 826 Orange Avenue, Coronado, CA 92118-2698 USA or by email at  furfarmers@aol.com
