HEAL Initial Report: Timber Ridge School claims the following accreditation, licensing, and memberships: Timber Ridge School is licensed by: Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services (HEAL has verified that it is so licensed. Source: http://lpss.dbhds.virginia.gov/ ) Virginia Department of Education (HEAL has verified that it is listed by the Virginia Department of Education under Special Ed Residential. Source: http://www.doe.virginia.gov/special_ed/day_residential_schools/directory.pdf) HEAL also found that there was a list of inspection and investigation reports on this facility. The details of those inspections and investigations were not available online nor did they list any individual at the regulatory agency responsible for those reports. Timber Ridge also hold the following accreditations: Council on Accreditation (COA) (This is a money-making scam run by people like Penny Walker who tortured youth at Pathway Family Center/Kids Helping Kids in Ohio before trying to create her own referral service which filed and now she accredits those doing the same. It isn't a trustworthy accreditation agency. However, it does accredit Timber Ridge School, so that statement is also true. COA charges a non-refundable fee of $750 to private organizations like Timber Ridge School (this must be renewed every 4 years and is subject to rate increase) and there annual fees start at a minimum of $7,392. For those who are "sponsors" of COA, they get a 25% discount on their accreditation fees and likely other conflict-of-interest perks. The most they charge an organization the accredit from the fee schedule appears to be $355,411 annually. If someone paid you $355,000 annually, would you tend to give them a "good standing" with your agency? In addition, COA relies solely on the "Good Faith" promises of those they accredit to provide accurate self-reporting and self-assessment according the the agency's supposed guidelines. Think about it. Source: https://coa.my.salesforce.com/sfc/p/ ) COA is also partnered with a number of organizations including NAPSEC, you will see below that Timber Ridge is a member of NAPSEC. This further shows a conflict-of-interest. In Progress...
