Chapter Coordinator--Angela Smith Visit Donor's Choose and G ive $5 to a Washington classroom today

HEAL began as a registered student organization at the University of Washington--Seattle Campus in March of 2002. The entire HEAL site was originally dedicated to our local actions. This is why there was not a chapter site devoted to our actions as there is for the chapters who started up after our initial inception in 2002. This chapter site will remain simple and basic and we hope that you will find navigating our site easier over the next few months and continue to seek and find information about and participate in HEAL HQ and all of our sister chapters, events, and action alerts.

Angela Smith, HEAL Founder, graduated from Kentridge High School in 1992 and earned her Certificate in Child Development in June, 1992. Ms. Smith graduated with honors from Highline Community College and earned her Associate of Arts Degree (English Major) in March, 2000. In July, 2003, Ms. Smith passed the Washington Educator Skills Test (WEST-B). And, she graduated from the University of Washington and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Double Major: Philosophy and History) in March, 2005. In 2003, Ms. Smith made the Dean's List for High Scholarship for academic performance at the University of Washington. Ms. Smith is currently on hiatus from law school after successfully completing her first year and passing the State Bar of California's First Year Law Student's Exam in 2009.

Prior to founding HEAL, Angela Smith volunteered with Domestically Abused Women's Network, NW AIDS Foundation, Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Action for Animals, Northwest Animal Rights Network, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and Amnesty International. Angela is also a survivor of Provo Canyon School and passionate about stopping institutionalized child abuse.
