HEAL is working with
Ashley DeBoer's family to save Ashley's life and expose the fraud,
maltreatment, and neglect suffered by Ashley and her family resulting in this
tragedy.

"I found your
website and email by doing a google search for the Provo Canyon School. My 16 year old granddaughter has been in the
ICU in Salt lake City for 7 days now, as she was withheld medical attention
while attending the school in Orem, and Pneumonia turned into Acute Respiratory
failure. We are from Alaska, and are
now traveling to Salt Lake to be there with her, and her mother who has been
there since Monday. We are shocked and
outraged that a school who is responsible for children could let a child get so
sick without getting medical treatment and seeing a doctor!"

"Things are going ok. Ashley is feeling pretty good. She had her
follow up with Dr. Rosenfeld today and a repeat xray. There is no difference in her chest xray from today and the last
one done on April 12th in Utah. Her
heart was enlarged and is moved to the left side. That showed in today's xrays.
Ashley will be having a echocardiogram to see what is happening with her heart.
Otherwise Dr. Rosenfeld reminded her to stay away from sick people and to get
lots of rest. She can do some activity
but keep it down for now. She is
supposed to wash her hands with soap and water all the time and keep herself
clean and germ free. I will let you
know how the echocardiogram goes. Thank
you for your continued support and those prayers have been the savior with
us."

"Well today we kind of had a
setback. Ashley's lungs are not doing
any better and she is not feeling well. She has a cold so now she is taking
antibiotics as a precaution so she doesn't get really sick. She has been coughing steady since around
2am. There really has not been a break
in the cough. Maybe 10 minutes here and
there and she is experiencing chest pain.
Dr. Rosenfeld is having us come back in to see him next Tuesday at
9am. He is then referring Ashley to a
pulmonary specialist in Seattle who can work with her and make recommendations
for her here at home. There was one
good thing ~ the swelling in her heart is going down a little. So it is not as
large as it was. That is a really good
thing. She will still need to have the
echocardiogram and find out why she has that swelling. We are not sure when we will be going to
Seattle. I will keep everyone
posted. Thank you all for your
continued prayers and support. I know
that Ashley's recovery will be long and there will be setbacks…"

Well we are back home. Things went well in
Seattle. Ashley and I were very tired from getting up at 5am for the
appointments! However, the Pulminary specialist said she is recovering as good
as expected. He said with the seriousness of Ashley's lung illness that we can
expect about a year and half of recovery time. He did some test to see how her
volume is doing. Normal lung volume ranges are between 80 - 120. For her age
she would normally be about 100 he said. Some of her test were around 79,
others were around 68-71. So he said she still will have difficulties. He gave
her a few prescriptions to try and he wants to see her again for more tests and
xrays in November. Both Ashley and I were very relieved!! It was not the BEST
news BUT GREAT ANYHOW! YIPEE! Tomorrow I am gathering her medical records,
having a teleconference to review some of those and going over her medical
history and what to do from here. I go back to work on Tuesday. I truly believe
in the power of prayer because we had a huge prayer chain going for Ashley and
without that love and support from our family and friends I don't think we
would have made it this far. Something weird happened while we were gone. When
Ashley and I were at the airport I had to get my ID out to get on the plane.
Well out fell a fortune I got from eating at the Galley with Tony. I had
written the date on the back and it said 12-28-06. Well the fortune said
"Remember 3 months from this date. It will be your lucky star." Which
was really weird because that was March 28th!! Well after reviewing my emails
and updates to everyone I saw that Ashley had been revived on March 27th! Then
on March 28th she started her uphill battle on healing and was doing better.
Anyhow, I wanted to share this because it was really weird. Along with my Dad
having a dream he flew over her and took part of her illness that night and
then leaving with bronchitis and my Mom hearing Dennis say Ashley was going to
be ok and then hearing Ashley talk about the dream she had the whole time she
was sleeping this has certainly been a roller coaster and lots of coincidences!
Ashley certainly has become a firm believer and this has strengthened her
Christian faith ~ she was already Christian but now she is ready to be
baptised. Which will be taking place this upcoming weekend at Bugge's Beach
after the regular church session. I am just so very thankful to have her alive
and with me. I am glad to hear that even though her lungs are not healing yet
that they will be. The doctor did say he wished he knew what brought this on.
He felt that she had already been sick and that her immune system had reacted
because it was already low. We may never know what she may have been sick with
prior to getting the pneumonia. It may remain a mystery. In any event it is a
shame the school did not seek out medical attention for the symptoms she had
from at least last July on. Well off to bed. I have a busy day getting the
things together and going over her medical stuff so I need to get some rest. We
will keep you posted. Thank you for your continued support and prayers. God
Bless!!
